Welcoming Riccardo Lampariello, D-tree’s new CEO

Dear Colleagues,

As Chair of D-tree’s Board of Directors I am thrilled to announce Riccardo Lampariello as our incoming CEO. Riccardo is a statistician and public health leader who brings more than 20 years of experience working in health systems strengthening, digital health and innovation. He is a thought leader in the global digital health field who will bring his expertise in partnership building, organizational growth and forward-thinking to D-tree as we continue our growth and expand our impact.

Riccardo will take over leadership of D-tree at a critical time for the organization. Over the last three years, D-tree has tripled in size and expanded our operations to four country offices. We have strengthened our commitment to working in close partnership with governments and have built a multi-disciplinary team of experts who support digital health transformation, from ideation to implementation. We are poised to leverage this momentum to deepen our engagement in our current locations and expand to new geographies where D-tree’s approach can be used to support governments to strengthen their health systems through the integration of technology and strategic use of data.

Most recently, Riccardo led Terre des hommes to nationally scale the digital health system, IeDA, supporting Universal Health Coverage to save children’s lives. This program is being fully transitioned to the Government of Burkina Faso and replicated throughout Mali, Guinea, Niger and India. The approach taken through the IeDA program parallel’s D-tree’s approach: building for the local context, partnering with government from the start, maximizing the potential of data to improve system efficiency and effectiveness, and supporting plans for capacity and sustainability.

Importantly, the digital system also focuses on improving service delivery at the point of care and using decision support to guide health workers through a visit to provide high-quality care tailored to each individual’s needs. We are thrilled that Riccardo will bring experience that is so aligned with D-tree’s approach and vision.

In addition to his experience at Terre des hommes, Riccardo has diverse experiences as the Head of Education & Training with the Union for International Cancer Control, Senior Manager for demand forecasting at the GAVI Alliance, and Associate Director of Business Development at Merck. He holds a Master of Business Administration with a focus on not-for-profit management and a Master of Science in Statistics.

D-tree’s Board was very impressed with Riccardo’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage and belief in the potential for digital technology to improve lives and transform health systems. We feel fortunate to have someone with such strong experience and mission-alignment to take the helm of D-tree and continue to work towards our founder Marc Mitchell’s vision of a world in which everyone, no matter where they are, has access to high-quality healthcare.

The Board would like to send its sincere thanks to Erica Layer for her dedication and strong leadership as D-tree’s CEO for the past four years. Through Erica’s vision and leadership, D-tree is in the strongest position it has ever been in and is positioned to continue its growth. Erica will continue to serve in the role of CEO until Riccardo officially joins D-tree in mid-September. We are also pleased to announce that Erica will join D-tree’s Board of Directors to support continuity and a strong transition.
