The recent 90-day U.S. aid freeze is having a devastating impact on the health and well-being of the people D-tree serves. Essential health services that already underserved communities rely on are now being scaled back or halted. Through this appeal, we call for contributions to close our funding gap caused by the U.S. aid suspension to minimize the disruption to life-saving care.
“This aid freeze is more than a policy decision – it’s a life-or-death situation for the communities we serve. Without urgent action, pregnant women, newborns and people with serious but treatable diseases will be left without the care they rely on. We need immediate support to ensure that essential life-saving services continue uninterrupted.”
Riccardo Lampariello, CEO, D-tree
D-tree works hand-in-hand with governments to provide essential health services in Malawi, Zambia, mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. Due to the funding freeze, we are facing a shortfall of over USD 1 million — leaving thousands of people without the care they need. Through our work, we ensure that pregnant women receive timely care, newborns have access to life-saving interventions and people living with serious yet treatable diseases get the support they need to stay healthy. But without USAID funding, these critical programs are at risk.
Every year, we support nearly 1 million health visits for pregnant women, newborns and young children and people living with treatable diseases. Without immediate action, many of these services could be lost – putting countless lives at risk. Research estimates that several thousand women and girls are likely to die from complications during pregnancy and childbirth as a result of the US Aid Suspension and 90-day aid freeze.
The already underserved will pay the highest price and at D-tree, we are committed to ensuring no one is left behind in accessing quality health care. But we can’t do it alone. We need your help – now more than ever. Your contribution will help us fill the funding gap and continue delivering life-saving health services to those who need them most.
