D-tree at the 2024 Global Digital Health Forum

At the Global Digital Health Forum this year, D-tree is excited to share our experiences, learnings and some of the incredible work happening in digital health across Africa. From panel discussions to showcasing real-world digital health solutions, we’re thrilled to bring stories to a global audience. Here’s a sneak peek at what we’ll be up to in Nairobi in December.

Convening a Panel Discussion: Achieving Continuum of Care — Learning from Tanzania, Zanzibar and Malawi

We look forward to convening a panel on December 6, 10-11 am, on the progress and challenges of digital health systems across three unique geographies – Malawi, Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. These geographies are all working toward stronger digital health systems, but each one is at a different stage, with its own journey and lessons to share.

What We’ll Talk About: We’ll be diving into the different digital health journeys, the wins, the roadblocks and what they’ve learned along the way. We hope to offer practical insights to those implementing or scaling digital health systems, especially when working closely with governments.

Meet our panelists:

  • Chimango Munthali, D-tree’s Malawi Country Director, will moderate. Chimango has years of experience implementing digital systems in Malawi.
  • Said Seif Said, Director General of Zanzibar’s eGovernment Authority, will share how digital solutions are transforming health services in Zanzibar.
  • Erick Jackson Kitali, Director of ICT at Tanzania’s President’s Office, brings his experience overseeing ICT systems across the public sector.
  • Dr. Alinafe Mbewe, from Malawi’s Ministry of Health, will talk about creating an integrated digital health system to improve the continuum of care in Malawi.

Marc Mitchell Award for Leadership and Innovation

We’re excited to join the Marc Mitchell Award Ceremony at GDHF, where we’ll honor this year’s winners. The winners exemplify what’s possible when technology and healthcare come together to create meaningful change.

Pop-Up Studio Interview with David Hershberg

Catch the pop-up studio interview with David Hershberg, D-tree’s Director of Partnerships. He’ll dive into how government partnerships make digital health transformation possible, sharing stories and takeaways on aligning programs with government goals to create sustainable health systems.

Participating in a Virtual Panel Discussion: Using Afya-Tek Data to Guide Decisions in Tanzania

This virtual session will focus on our flagship program Afya-Tek and how it connects public and private healthcare in Tanzania. We’ll discuss how local government leaders can use data from Afya-Tek to make more informed decisions for community health. Our colleagues Eden Mathew, Senior Technical Advisor, and Neema Ringo, Deputy Country Director, will be on the panel, convened by Apotheker.

Virtual Presentation: Designing a Chatbot for Zambian Youth

In a virtual session, our colleague Patrick Mukupa in Zambia will talk about creating a chatbot specifically for young people in Lusaka. This bot gives young people the information they need to make healthy choices, especially around reproductive health, right from their phones. We’re excited to share how we’re making digital health work for Zambia’s next generation!
